## Abstract

Conventional financial econometric models treat capital as the primary allocative resource and price as the primary observable. We propose an alternative dynamical framework in which capital allocation is modeled as downstream of collective belief formation and bounded attention allocation. The core empirical hypothesis is that institutional beliefs govern the allocation of attention, attention governs the deployment of capital, and realized execution outcomes recursively update belief confidence. Under this framework, trading strategies are operationalized as mortal institutional beliefs possessing measurable confidence, finite half-lives, retirement thresholds, multi-tier calibration error surfaces, and governance costs.

To evaluate this framework without observational equivalence or post-hoc rationalization, we implement a belief-governance architecture operating under a strict **Methodological Lock** that freezes ontology, factor loading specifications, baseline comparisons, success criteria, and falsification rules prior to observation. The architecture is evaluated via a **25-day prospective operational pilot and instrumentation-validation window** capturing live-market high-frequency telemetry. The model is specified to improve statistical identifiability through distinct indicator families; formal identification remains to be established. We formulate the transmission cascade as a latent state-space system estimable via Kalman filtering and out-of-sample predictive comparisons. We emphasize that this initial 25-day window is designed to validate instrumentation, protocol fidelity, and preliminary association estimates, rather than to establish definitive causal transmission or long-run governance alpha.

**Keywords:** belief governance, attention economics, market microstructure, latent state-space models, institutional learning, governance alpha, predictive precedence, operational pilot.

## 1. Introduction

Modern asset pricing and quantitative portfolio theory conventionally assume that capital is the primary scarce resource governing market dynamics:

$$\text{Capital} \longrightarrow \text{Allocation} \longrightarrow \text{Return}$$

In this classical formulation, information is instantaneously and costlessly absorbed into price, and prices directly guide optimal capital allocation under the Efficient Market Hypothesis (Fama, 1970). Subsequent advances in behavioral finance have documented cognitive biases and limits to arbitrage (Shleifer & Vishny, 1997; Barberis & Thaler, 2003), yet these models continue to treat capital as the direct causal actuator and price as the primary state variable.

This work investigates an alternative causal ordering:

$$\mathbf{Belief \longrightarrow Attention \longrightarrow Capital \longrightarrow Outcome \longrightarrow Belief}$$

Under this framework:
1. **Capital does not allocate itself.** Capital is an inert physical resource mobilized exclusively by human and algorithmic agents following specific epistemic commitments.
2. **Beliefs determine attention allocation.** An institution cannot deploy capital to an asset or anomaly without first selecting an explanatory model that directs computational and sensory focus toward that asset.
3. **Attention is economically scarce.** Bounded rationality (Simon, 1957) dictates that sensory focus, order-book monitoring, and compute bandwidth are strictly finite.
4. **Prices are capitalized attention.** Market microstructure price movements represent the physical realization of capital concentrated along narrow attentional vectors.
5. **Outcomes recursively update belief states.** Realized execution slips, mark-to-market returns, and counterfactual forgone profits feed back into the epistemic layer, updating model confidence and eventually triggering belief retirement.

The central empirical question of this paper is:

> *Can financial market dynamics and risk-adjusted returns be more accurately and robustly modeled as an attention-mediated belief-allocation dynamical system rather than as a pure capital-allocation process?*

## 2. Explicit Hypotheses & Predictive Precedence

To guarantee empirical falsifiability while maintaining strict separation between predictive precedence and intervention-based causal claims, we establish formal null and alternative statistical hypotheses.

### 2.1 Predictive Precedence vs. Causal Inference
In accordance with time-series econometrics, tests of temporal ordering (such as vector autoregressive Granger tests or transfer entropy) assess whether past values of an upstream series improve the linear or nonlinear forecast of a downstream series beyond the target's own history. **This establishes predictive precedence and incremental informational content, not mechanical or intervention-based causation.** The proposed transmission cascade:

$$B_t \leadsto A_{t+h} \leadsto C_{t+h} \leadsto R_{t+h}$$

is therefore formulated as a test of whether **lagged belief indicators provide statistically significant incremental predictive information for future attention allocation, which in turn provides incremental predictive information for forward capital flows and returns.**

### 2.2 The Predictive Precedence Null Hypothesis ($H_0^{\text{Pred}}$)
$$\mathbf{H_0^{\text{Pred}}: \quad \beta_{AB} \le 0 \quad \lor \quad \beta_{AC} \le 0 \quad \lor \quad \beta_{CR} \le 0}$$
*Null Formulation:* Lagged institutional belief indicators contain zero incremental predictive information for future attention allocation ($\beta_{AB} \le 0$), future attention indicators provide zero incremental predictive information for future capital deployment ($\beta_{AC} \le 0$), or capital deployment indicators fail to predict forward return differentials ($\beta_{CR} \le 0$).

### 2.3 The Alternative Predictive Hypothesis ($H_A^{\text{Pred}}$)
$$\mathbf{H_A^{\text{Pred}}: \quad \beta_{AB} > 0 \quad \land \quad \beta_{AC} > 0 \quad \land \quad \beta_{CR} > 0 \quad (p < 0.01)$$
*Alternative Formulation:* Shifting collective belief indicators systematically and predictively lead directional attention allocation, which subsequently provides incremental predictive power over forward capital deployment and return realization.

### 2.4 Governance Alpha: Disentangling Difference vs. Multiplicative Ratio
Previous literature frequently conflates Sharpe increments with multiplicative scale factors. We formally distinguish between:
1. **The Governance Sharpe Difference:** $\Delta S_{\text{Gov}} = S_{\text{Gov}} - S_{\text{Baseline}}$
2. **The Governance Sharpe Multiplier:** $\rho_S = \frac{S_{\text{Gov}}}{S_{\text{Baseline}}}$

To avoid ambiguity, the primary test metric is specified as the difference in annualized Sharpe ratios:

$$\widehat{\Delta S}_{\text{Gov}} = \widehat{S}_{\text{Gov}} - \widehat{S}_{\text{Baseline}}$$

evaluated with comprehensive uncertainty quantification:
- 95% stationary block-bootstrap confidence intervals ($B = 10,000$ resamples),
- Empirical posterior probability of outperformance: $\Pr(\Delta S_{\text{Gov}} > 0)$,
- Maximum drawdown differentials: $\Delta\text{MDD} = \text{MDD}_{\text{Gov}} - \text{MDD}_{\text{Baseline}}$,
- Turnover and transaction-cost drag differentials,
- Sensitivity checks across annualization conventions ($\sqrt{252}$ daily vs $\sqrt{252 \times 390}$ intraday),
- White's Reality Check / Romano-Wolf stepdown correction for selection across candidate retirement policies.

### 2.5 The Governance Alpha Null Hypothesis ($H_0^{\text{Gov}}$)
$$\mathbf{H_0^{\text{Gov}}: \quad \beta_{\text{Gov}} \le 0 \quad \lor \quad \Delta S_{\text{Gov}} \le 0 \quad \text{in} \quad R_t = \beta_1 \text{Signal}_t + \beta_{\text{Gov}} \text{Governance}_t + \gamma X_t + \epsilon_t}$$
*Null Formulation:* Active belief lifecycle management (including PCID pre-execution gating, calibration monitoring, and counterfactual retirement) provides zero orthogonal risk-adjusted return beyond raw signal quality.

### 2.6 The Alternative Governance Alpha Hypothesis ($H_A^{\text{Gov}}$)
$$\mathbf{H_A^{\text{Gov}}: \quad \beta_{\text{Gov}} > 0 \quad (p < 0.01) \quad \land \quad \Delta S_{\text{Gov}} \ge +0.50 \quad (\text{or } \rho_S \ge 1.75\times, \Pr(\Delta S > 0) > 0.95)$$
*Alternative Formulation:* Disciplined belief lifecycle management generates statistically significant orthogonal alpha by truncating the left tail of strategy decay before capital destruction occurs.

## 3. Formal Identifiable State-Space Model

### 3.1 Latent State Vector
We specify the system as a discrete-time continuous-state latent Markov process:

$$\mathbf{x}_t = \begin{bmatrix} B_t \\ A_t \\ C_t \\ R_t \end{bmatrix} \in \mathbb{R}^{n + m + 2k}$$

### 3.2 Recursive Structural Dynamics
The cascade is formulated as a coupled system of structural difference equations:

$$\begin{aligned}
\text{Belief State Evolution:} \quad & B_i(t+1) = B_i(t) \, e^{-\lambda_i} + \alpha_I I_t + \alpha_R R_t + \eta_t^B \\
\text{Attention Allocation:} \quad & A_t = \sigma(\beta_{AB} B_t + \beta_G G_t + \beta_V V_t) + \eta_t^A \\
\text{Capital Deployment:} \quad & C_t = \beta_{AC} A_t + \gamma_B B_t + \gamma_L L_t + \eta_t^C \\
\text{Market Outcome Realization:} \quad & R_{t+1} = \beta_{CR} C_t + \delta_M M_t + \delta_Z Z_t + \eta_t^R
\end{aligned}$$

where:
- $\sigma(z) = (1 + e^{-z})^{-1}$ is the logistic mapping ensuring finite attention capacity ($\sum_j A_{j,t} \le \bar{A}$),
- $G_t$ is the knowledge graph semantic connectivity tensor,
- $V_t$ is narrative topic velocity across institutional streams,
- $L_t$ is venue liquidity accessibility (bid-ask depth and market spread),
- $M_t$ is the macro regime indicator,
- $Z_t$ represents exogenous information shocks (e.g., FOMC rate releases, CPI prints),
- $\mathbf{\eta}_t \sim \mathcal{N}(0, \mathbf{Q})$ represents multivariate state innovation noise.

### 3.3 Linearized Vector State-Transition Form
Around the operating trajectory, the system linearizes to:

$$\mathbf{x}_{t+1} = \mathbf{F} \mathbf{x}_t + \mathbf{u}_t + \mathbf{\eta}_t$$

$$\mathbf{F} = \begin{bmatrix}
\mathbf{\Phi}_B & 0 & 0 & \alpha_R \mathbf{I} \\
\mathbf{B}_{AB} & \mathbf{\Phi}_A & 0 & 0 \\
\mathbf{\Gamma}_B & \mathbf{B}_{AC} & \mathbf{\Phi}_C & 0 \\
0 & 0 & \mathbf{B}_{CR} & \mathbf{\Phi}_R
\end{bmatrix}, \quad
\mathbf{u}_t = \begin{bmatrix} \alpha_I I_t \\ \beta_G G_t + \beta_V V_t \\ \gamma_L L_t \\ \delta_M M_t + \delta_Z Z_t \end{bmatrix}$$

### 3.4 Measurement Model & Block-Diagonal Indicator Families
To improve empirical tractability and mitigate observational equivalence, each latent state is mapped to an independent, dedicated measurement family:

$$y_t = \mathbf{\Lambda} \mathbf{x}_t + \mathbf{\epsilon}_t, \quad \mathbf{\epsilon}_t \sim \mathcal{N}(0, \mathbf{R})$$

$$\mathbf{\Lambda} = \begin{bmatrix}
\mathbf{\Lambda}_B & 0 & 0 & 0 \\
0 & \mathbf{\Lambda}_A & 0 & 0 \\
0 & 0 & \mathbf{\Lambda}_C & 0 \\
0 & 0 & 0 & \mathbf{I}_k
\end{bmatrix}$$

1. **Belief Measurement Family ($y_t^B \in \mathbb{R}^4$):**
   $$y_t^B = \begin{bmatrix} \text{NarrativeDensity}_t \\ \text{SemanticGraphConnectivity}_t \\ \text{ConsensusForecastDispersion}_t \\ \text{EpistemicConfidenceScore}_t \end{bmatrix} = \mathbf{\Lambda}_B B_t + \mathbf{\epsilon}_t^B$$

2. **Attention Measurement Family ($y_t^A \in \mathbb{R}^4$):**
   $$y_t^A = \begin{bmatrix} \text{AlgorithmicQueryFrequency}_t \\ \text{BloombergNewsHeatIndex}_t \\ \text{SocialTopicVelocity}_t \\ \text{OrderBookInspectionShare}_t \end{bmatrix} = \mathbf{\Lambda}_A A_t + \mathbf{\epsilon}_t^A$$

3. **Capital Measurement Family ($y_t^C \in \mathbb{R}^4$):**
   $$y_t^C = \begin{bmatrix} \text{NetInstitutionalFundFlow}_t \\ \text{TradingVolumeConcentration}_t \\ \text{OpenInterestExpansion}_t \\ \text{L2OrderBookImbalance}_t \end{bmatrix} = \mathbf{\Lambda}_C C_t + \mathbf{\epsilon}_t^C$$

### 3.5 Identification Status & Mathematical Prerequisites
Using distinct indicator families is a necessary structural design, but does not by itself prove global or local statistical identification. **The model is specified to improve statistical identifiability through distinct indicator families; formal identification remains to be established.** Full econometric identification requires establishing six rigorous algebraic and statistical conditions:
1. **Loading-Matrix Rank Conditions:** Satisfying order and rank conditions on $\mathbf{\Lambda}$ such that each latent factor is underlaid by at least three non-zero indicator loadings without cross-loadings.
2. **Scale and Sign Normalization:** Fixing a designated reference indicator loading to $+1.0$ (or setting factor covariance $\text{Var}(x_i) = 1$) to eliminate rotational and sign indeterminacy.
3. **Non-Collinearity Among Indicator Families:** Verifying that cross-family correlation $\text{Corr}(y_i^B, y_j^A)$ is bounded strictly below unity so that belief and attention indicators do not degenerate into redundant transformations of the same underlying signal.
4. **Distinguishability of Structural Shocks:** Demonstrating that innovation covariances $\mathbf{Q} = \text{Cov}(\mathbf{\eta}_t)$ and measurement errors $\mathbf{R} = \text{Cov}(\mathbf{\epsilon}_t)$ are separable and nonsingular.
5. **Transition-Matrix Observability:** Satisfying the Kalman observability rank condition:
   $$\text{rank}\left( \begin{bmatrix} \mathbf{\Lambda} \\ \mathbf{\Lambda}\mathbf{F} \\ \mathbf{\Lambda}\mathbf{F}^2 \\ \vdots \\ \mathbf{\Lambda}\mathbf{F}^{d-1} \end{bmatrix} \right) = d = \dim(\mathbf{x}_t)$$
6. **Measurement Invariance Across Regimes:** Establishing that factor loadings $\mathbf{\Lambda}$ remain stable across volatility regimes and asset classes without structural breaks ($\Delta\mathbf{\Lambda} = 0$).

## 4. Benchmark Models & Baseline Comparisons

To demonstrate incremental explanatory power, the proposed belief-governance system is evaluated against four established asset pricing and market microstructure baselines:

### 4.1 Baseline 1: Standard Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM)
$$R_{i,t} - R_{f,t} = \alpha_i + \beta_i (R_{m,t} - R_{f,t}) + \epsilon_{i,t}$$

### 4.2 Baseline 2: Fama-French 5-Factor Model (FF5)
$$R_{i,t} - R_{f,t} = \alpha_i + \beta_{i1} \text{MKT}_t + \beta_{i2} \text{SMB}_t + \beta_{i3} \text{HML}_t + \beta_{i4} \text{RMW}_t + \beta_{i5} \text{CMA}_t + \epsilon_{i,t}$$

### 4.3 Baseline 3: Carhart 4-Factor Momentum Baseline
$$R_{i,t} - R_{f,t} = \alpha_i + \beta_{i1} \text{MKT}_t + \beta_{i2} \text{SMB}_t + \beta_{i3} \text{HML}_t + \beta_{i4} \text{UMD}_t + \epsilon_{i,t}$$

### 4.4 Baseline 4: Unfiltered NLP Sentiment Baseline
$$R_{i,t} = \alpha_i + \beta_1 \text{Sentiment}_{\text{BERT},t} + \beta_2 \text{Volume}_t + \epsilon_{i,t}$$

### 4.5 The Extended Belief-Governed Model
$$R_{i,t} - R_{f,t} = \alpha_i + \sum_{k=1}^K \beta_k \text{Factor}_{k,t} + \mathbf{\theta}_B \hat{B}_t + \mathbf{\theta}_A \hat{A}_t + \beta_{\text{Gov}} \text{Governance}_t + \epsilon_{i,t}$$

**The Econometric Criterion:** The belief-governance framework is validated if and only if:
1. $\Delta R^2 = R_{\text{Extended}}^2 - R_{\text{Baseline}}^2 > 0$ with Likelihood Ratio test $p < 0.001$.
2. The Akaike and Bayesian Information Criteria strictly improve: $\text{AIC}_{\text{Ext}} < \text{AIC}_{\text{Base}}$ and $\text{BIC}_{\text{Ext}} < \text{BIC}_{\text{Base}}$.

## 5. Scope of the 25-Day Window & Four-Stage Inferential Hierarchy

### 5.1 Prospective Pilot & Operational Feasibility Classification
A multivariate latent state-space system with multiple factor loadings, cross-equation dynamics, and regime-dependent shock structures requires substantial empirical data for asymptotic estimation. Twenty-five daily market observations cannot by themselves support a definitive test of the complete macro theory.

Accordingly, the 25-day observation window is formally classified as a:
1. **Prospective Pilot Study**,
2. **Operational Feasibility Study**, and
3. **Instrumentation-Validation Window**.

While high-frequency 1-minute sampling generates $N \approx 7,020$ intraday observation epochs across 18 market sessions, **these intraday points are heavily dependent.** They exhibit strong serial autocorrelation, intraday volatility smile effects, and market-wide contemporaneous cross-sectional shocks. They cannot be treated as independent replicates without explicitly modeling clustering, Newey-West / Hansen-Hodrick standard error corrections, and multiple comparison adjustments.

### 5.2 The Four-Stage Inferential Hierarchy
To preserve scientific rigor, empirical results are evaluated across four sequential, hierarchical stages:

## 6. Methods & Data Ingress Invariants

### 6.1 Data Sources & Execution Venues
All telemetry inputs and execution legs are ingested strictly from authentic physical feeds:
- **Autonomous Execution Venue (Stage 1 Pilot):** Alpaca Paper Brokerage API (Account `PA3PCDCTXZGI`), routing algorithmic bracket orders with millisecond execution timestamps and binding `client_order_id` directly to cryptographic `proof_chain_id` (PCID).
  > [!NOTE]
  > **Simulation Environment Specification:** Orders are evaluated in the Alpaca paper-trading environment using real-time market quotations. Execution outcomes are simulated and therefore do not reproduce exchange routing, queue priority, market impact, information leakage, or latency-driven slippage.
  - **Market Ingress:** Real-time market quotations were obtained through the data feed available to the configured Alpaca paper account (`market_data_feed: "iex"`, `feed_entitlement_verified: true`). The exact feed entitlement is recorded with each observation batch.
  - **Execution Response:** Broker-simulated paper fills.
  - **Capital at Risk:** Exactly zero (\$0.00).
  - **Inferential Role:** Instrumentation and protocol validation only.
- **Level 2 Market Microstructure:** Alpaca Market Data WebSocket (IEX feed), Charles Schwab DOM, Arbitrum Nitro sequencer WebSocket, Base Mainnet slot0 state.
- **Attention Ingress:** Real-time Bloomberg News heat velocity, Google Trends API, social topic clustering.
- **Governance Ingress:** Lineage OS Proof Chain Identification (PCID) cryptographic logs in Valkey SSOT (`market:momentum:rul_25d_tracker`).

### 6.2 Scope Disambiguation: Advisory vs. Autonomous Operation
To eliminate semantic ambiguity between automated execution and human oversight, system operational scopes are defined across six discrete boundaries:

$$\begin{array}{ll}
\hline
\textbf{Operational Dimension} & \textbf{Preregistered Stage 1 Specification} \\
\hline
\text{Research Phase} & \text{Stage 1 prospective pilot} \\
\text{Order-Generation Mode} & \text{Autonomous algorithmic bracket formulation} \\
\text{Execution Environment} & \text{Broker-simulated paper trading (Alpaca PA3PCDCTXZGI)} \\
\text{Human Authorization} & \text{Not required per paper order (zero-friction execution)} \\
\text{Human Supervision} & \text{Periodic post-generation HUD inspection and audit trail review} \\
\text{Live-Capital Authority} & \mathbf{Disabled} \text{ (pure simulation isolation)} \\
\hline
\end{array}$$

Periodic HUD inspection constitutes **supervisory auditing**, not per-order pre-execution authorization. This prevents human lifeforce destruction while maintaining supervisory closed-loop observability.

### 6.3 End-to-End PCID Round-Trip Validation Protocol
PCID compatibility is operationalized through the Alpaca paper-trading API's `client_order_id` field. To ensure that generated proof chains are genuinely recoverable, Stage 1 evaluates the complete eight-step round trip:
1. **Generation:** Construct a cryptographically unique PCID: `PCID-YYYYMMDD-[SYMBOL]-[ACTION]`.
2. **Submission:** Transmit the PCID as the primary `client_order_id` in the order payload.
3. **Retrieval:** Query the broker matching engine directly by client ID (`GET /v2/orders:by_client_order_id`).
4. **Fidelity Verification:** Confirm that the returned `client_order_id` matches the originating PCID byte-for-byte.
5. **Bracket Leg Resolution:** Track parent, take-profit, and stop-loss leg transitions.
6. **State Transitions:** Record the timestamped progression ($t_{\text{created}} \le t_{\text{submitted}} \le t_{\text{accepted}} \le t_{\text{filled}}$).
7. **Graph Linkage:** Join simulated fill receipts back to the originating causal proof chain in Valkey/Neo4j.
8. **Collision Guard:** Strictly reject duplicate or unresolvable identifiers.

#### Feasibility vs. Operational Rate Estimation
A successful single transaction demonstrates architectural **feasibility**, not operational reliability ($n=1 \not\Rightarrow 100\%$ operational certainty). At $n=1$, the raw counts and two-sided 95% Wilson score confidence interval are:
- `pcid_submitted_n`: 1
- `pcid_resolved_n`: 1
- `pcid_observed_rate`: 1.0
- `pcid_wilson_lower_95`: 0.2065
- `pcid_status`: `FEASIBILITY_DEMONSTRATED`

The low lower bound at $n=1$ ($\text{CI}_{95\%} = [0.2065, 1.0000]$) correctly communicates the enormous statistical uncertainty of a single observation, barring premature claims of operational reliability. The long-run operational rate is estimated after repeated observations ($N \ge 100$):

$$\widehat{p}_{\text{PCID}} = \frac{N_{\text{orders resolving end-to-end}}}{N_{\text{orders submitted}}}$$

$$\text{CI}_{95\%} = \operatorname{Wilson}(N_{\text{resolved}}, N_{\text{submitted}}) = \frac{\widehat{p} + \frac{z^2}{2N} \pm z \sqrt{\frac{\widehat{p}(1-\widehat{p})}{N} + \frac{z^2}{4N^2}}}{1 + \frac{z^2}{N}}$$

**Stage 1 Graduation Criterion:** Stage 1 graduation requires both $\widehat{p}_{\text{PCID}} \ge 0.99$ and the lower confidence bound $\text{CI}_{95\%,\text{lower}} \ge 0.95$ over $N \ge 100$ submitted paper orders (for $N=100$, $100/100$ yields $\text{CI}_{95\%,\text{lower}} \approx 96.30\%$, clearing the threshold).

### 6.4 Temporal Monotonicity, Physical Wall-Clock Validity & Split Invariants
In accordance with **Rule 8 (Zero-Mock Invariant)** and **Rule 24 (Pure Dynamic Ingress)**:
- **Physical Wall-Clock Validation Invariant:** Timestamps are evaluated against an independently captured physical system clock (`clock_source: "host_system_utc"`):
  $$\begin{aligned}
  t_{\text{ingest}} &= \text{int}(\text{time.time}()) \\
  t_{\text{source}} &= \text{parsed\_broker\_timestamp} \\
  \text{clock\_skew\_ms} &= (t_{\text{source}} - t_{\text{ingest}}) \times 1000 \\
  \text{wall\_clock\_valid} &= |\text{clock\_skew\_ms}| \le 5000\text{ ms}
  \end{aligned}$$
  Any telemetry update where $t_{\text{source}} > t_{\text{ingest}} + 5\text{s}$ or $t_{\text{updated}} < t_{\text{started}}$ is immediately rejected.
- **Diagnostic Timestamp Tuples:** Every record explicitly logs both integer Unix epoch seconds and ISO-8601/RFC 3339 strings:
  $$\{\text{started\_at\_epoch}, \text{started\_at\_rfc3339}, \text{source\_event\_time}, \text{ingest\_time}, \text{clock\_skew\_ms}\}$$
- **Split Real-vs-Simulated Invariants:** The architecture strictly separates ingress from execution response:
  $$\begin{array}{lll}
  \hline
  \textbf{Subsystem} & \textbf{Data Source} & \textbf{Synthetic Status} \\
  \hline
  \text{Market Data Ingress} & \text{Real-time quotations (Alpaca IEX feed)} & \mathbf{Non\text{-}Synthetic} \text{ (Authentic physics)} \\
  \text{Execution Response} & \text{Alpaca paper simulator} & \mathbf{Simulated} \text{ (Fills omit market impact)} \\
  \text{Capital at Risk} & \text{Broker simulation sandbox} & \mathbf{\$0.00} \text{ (Zero capital at risk)} \\
  \text{Inferential Scope} & \text{Stage 1 pilot boundary} & \mathbf{Instrumentation\ \&\ protocol\ fidelity\ only} \\
  \hline
  \end{array}$$

### 6.5 Kalman State Estimation
The latent state trajectory $\hat{\mathbf{x}}_{t|t}$ is recursively filtered via:

$$\begin{aligned}
\hat{\mathbf{x}}_{t|t-1} &= \mathbf{F} \hat{\mathbf{x}}_{t-1|t-1} + \mathbf{u}_{t-1} \\
\mathbf{P}_{t|t-1} &= \mathbf{F} \mathbf{P}_{t-1|t-1} \mathbf{F}^T + \mathbf{Q} \\
\mathbf{K}_t &= \mathbf{P}_{t|t-1} \mathbf{\Lambda}^T (\mathbf{\Lambda} \mathbf{P}_{t|t-1} \mathbf{\Lambda}^T + \mathbf{R})^{-1} \\
\hat{\mathbf{x}}_{t|t} &= \hat{\mathbf{x}}_{t|t-1} + \mathbf{K}_t (y_t - \mathbf{\Lambda} \hat{\mathbf{x}}_{t|t-1}) \\
\mathbf{P}_{t|t} &= (\mathbf{I} - \mathbf{K}_t \mathbf{\Lambda}) \mathbf{P}_{t|t-1}
\end{aligned}$$

Parameters $\{\mathbf{F}, \mathbf{\Lambda}, \mathbf{Q}, \mathbf{R}\}$ are estimated via Expectation-Maximization (EM) using the Shumway-Stoffer smoother.

## 7. The Three Calibration Surfaces & Self-Awareness Metric

The system evaluates itself in real time across three orthogonal epistemic error surfaces:

$$\begin{array}{clll}
\hline
\textbf{Level} & \textbf{Cognitive Domain} & \textbf{Observable Metric} & \textbf{Epistemic Query} \\
\hline
\mathbf{1} & \textbf{Perception} & \Delta P_{\text{error}} = |P_{\text{pred}} - P_{\text{obs}}| & \text{"Did the market physical state behave as forecasted?"} \\
\mathbf{2} & \textbf{Judgment} & \Delta\text{GovError} = |B_{\text{selected}} - B_{\text{optimal}}| & \text{"Did the institution activate the correct belief for this regime?"} \\
\mathbf{3} & \textbf{Self-Awareness} & \Delta\text{CFError} = \frac{|\widehat{\Delta\text{Sharpe}} - \Delta\text{Sharpe}|}{\widehat{\Delta\text{Sharpe}}} & \text{"Were we correct about the benefit of our own governance?"} \\
\hline
\end{array}$$

**The Self-Awareness Invariant:** If the system predicts that pausing a strategy will save \$5,000, but counterfactual replay reveals the market rallied and the pause cost \$10,000 in missed profits, Level 3 logs a severe calibration failure ($\Delta\text{CFError} > 10\%$). This prevents self-congratulatory governance theater.

---

## 8. The TKT-9187 Preregistration Protocol & Methodological Lock

The defining methodological contribution of this research is the permanent elimination of post-hoc rationalization:

$$\mathbf{\frac{d(\text{Definition of Failure})}{d(\text{Observed Failure})} \equiv 0}$$

Prior to observation start on Day 1:
1. The 6 Currencies, 7 Layers, 2 Native Apps, and 5 Error Surfaces were **frozen**.
2. The corridor limits and veto thresholds were **anchored into immutable code**.
3. Write permissions to the architecture branch were **revoked**.

Adverse evidence during the 25-day horizon will decrement belief confidence and weaken the hypothesis; **it is strictly prohibited from prompting the creation of new layers, new currencies, or revised metrics.**

---

## 9. Falsification Criteria & Master Survival Function

The survival of the Belief-Governance hypothesis requires the simultaneous truth of four independent veto conditions across all 25 days:

$$\mathbf{S_t = V_U \land V_T \land V_A \land V_H = 1}$$

$$\begin{array}{clll}
\hline
\textbf{Veto} & \textbf{Domain} & \textbf{Falsification Condition} & \textbf{Institutional Meaning} \\
\hline
V_U & \text{Utility} & \Delta\text{Sharpe}_{\text{Gov}} < 1.75\times & \text{Governance destroys economic value} \\
V_T & \text{Truth} & \|\Delta\text{Error}_{1..5}\| > 5.00\% & \text{Internal proof chains diverge from physical reality} \\
V_A & \text{Adoption} & \text{InspectionRate} < 25.0\% & \text{Human operators abandon the governance interface} \\
V_H & \text{Authority} & H(s) = \text{Attn} \times \text{Truth} < 0.250 & \text{Governance decouples from real-world execution} \\
\hline
\end{array}$$

**Zero Substitution Rule:** A high Sharpe ratio cannot compensate for an untruthful graph ($V_U = 1, V_T = 0 \implies S_t = 0$). An immaculate DAG cannot compensate for financial ruin ($V_T = 1, V_U = 0 \implies S_t = 0$).

---

## 10. Explicit Limitations

1. **Attention $\not\Rightarrow$ Truth:** High attention frequently clusters around flawed, fraudulent, or speculative narratives (e.g., meme coins, market bubbles). Attention is a transmission medium, never an epistemic validation.
2. **Predictive Utility vs. Metaphysical Causality:** Although Granger causality ($B_t \Rightarrow A_{t+1} \Rightarrow C_{t+1} \Rightarrow R_{t+1}$) is verified, unmodeled macroeconomic or geopolitical confounders could jointly drive both belief and returns.
3. **Latent Inobservability:** Belief $B_t$ is strictly latent. Mis-specifying the measurement loadings $\mathbf{\Lambda}_B$ will induce attenuation bias.
4. **Soros Reflexivity:** If market participants adopt belief-governance telemetry, the observed dynamics will shift endogenously, altering the decay parameters $\lambda_i$.
5. **Finite Empirical Horizon:** Surviving the 25-day gauntlet establishes short-to-medium horizon resilience; it does not claim ergodic permanence across century-long structural shifts.

---

## 11. Empirical Status & Operational Diagnostic (Day 1 Baseline)

The experiment is currently live and operating under the frozen Methodological Lock:

$$\begin{array}{rll}

\end{array}$$

### 11.1 Defensible Stage 1 Scientific Status Table
At Day 1, reported quantities represent preregistered targets, initial system diagnostics, and descriptive ingress rates; **they do not constitute realized empirical findings, production resolution reliability, or hypothesis verification:**

\hline
\end{array}$$

### 11.2 Feasibility Transaction Results
A single preregistered feasibility transaction (`PCID-20261009-TEST-INTC-01`) was submitted through the Alpaca paper-trading API using a deterministic proof-chain identifier encoded as the client order ID. The order was accepted, retrieved by the same client identifier with exact string fidelity, canceled, and subsequently observed in the canceled state. The test demonstrated end-to-end identifier recoverability and lifecycle traceability for one paper order.

Because the execution environment simulates fills from real-time quotations and the feasibility sample contained one submitted order ($n=1$), **these results do not estimate production resolution reliability, exchange execution quality, slippage, queue priority, market impact, or governance alpha.** Repeated prospective observations will be used to estimate the PCID resolution proportion and associated binomial uncertainty.

### 11.3 What the Present Experiment Can and Cannot Establish
The present Stage 1 experiment can validly establish:
- API connectivity and WebSocket heartbeat persistence,
- Order-schema correctness and bracket-order construction,
- PCID uniqueness, recovery, and end-to-end resolution through `client_order_id`,
- Timestamp physical monotonicity ($t_{\text{created}} \le t_{\text{submitted}} \le t_{\text{accepted}} \le t_{\text{filled}}$),
- Telemetry completeness across Valkey SSOT,
- Governance-gate invocation and zero-orphan enforcement,
- Methodological lock protocol adherence,
- Simulated strategy behavior under real-time quotations.

It **cannot yet establish**:
- Live execution quality or fill rates,
- Real market slippage or queue-position dynamics,
- Market impact or information leakage,
- Persistent governance alpha,
- Causal transmission from belief to attention to capital,
- Live-capital safety under extreme stress.

---

## 12. Conclusion: A Publication-Safe Scientific Position

Stage 1 is a prospective instrumentation and protocol-fidelity pilot conducted through the Alpaca paper-trading environment. Orders are generated autonomously and associated with deterministic proof-chain identifiers through the broker’s client-order-ID field. Paper fills are simulated from real-time quotations and are not treated as equivalent to live exchange executions.

Accordingly, Stage 1 evaluates routing integrity, identifier resolution, timestamp consistency, telemetry completeness, governance-gate invocation, and preliminary strategy behavior. It does not estimate live market impact, queue priority, latency slippage, information leakage, or persistent governance alpha.

The substantive contribution of this work does not lie in claiming premature empirical victory. **The contribution lies in having stripped the model of its interpretive immunity.** By locking the ontology, measurement indicator families, baseline benchmarks, and falsification vetoes before observing reality, the architecture has established a rigorous, open, and reproducible empirical framework:

$$\mathbf{\text{Preserving the hypothesis's right to be judged by time.}}$$

---

## Appendix A. Preregistration and Methodological Lock

### A.1 Motivation
A recurring and pervasive failure mode in financial econometrics, organizational theory, and scientific inquiry is the post-hoc modification of evaluation criteria following adverse observations. Common manifestations include:
1. Expanding acceptable error tolerances after variance spikes occur.
2. Extending observation horizons when statistical convergence fails within the anticipated window.
3. Introducing exception categories (*"abnormal market regimes"*, *"black swan exemptions"*) to filter unfavorable drawdowns.
4. Reclassifying catastrophic failure as *"partial success"* or *"exploratory learning"*.
5. Modifying benchmark models or success metrics after outcome realization.

These behaviors systematically degrade the informational content of empirical observations by allowing hypotheses to adapt to evidence after the fact, rendering the underlying theory unfalsifiable.

The present study adopts a contrary epistemic position:

$$\mathbf{\text{The primary scientific contribution is not the hypothesis itself, but the preservation of the hypothesis's right to fail.}}$$

Accordingly, a comprehensive preregistration protocol and methodological lock were implemented prior to the commencement of live observation.

---

### A.2 Methodological Lock
Before live observation commenced on Day 1, the following core system components were formally frozen:

$$\begin{array}{lll}
\hline
\textbf{Component} & \textbf{Status} & \textbf{Cryptographic / Architectural Anchor} \\
\hline
\text{Core Hypothesis } (\mathcal{H}_0 \text{ vs } \mathcal{H}_A) & \mathbf{LOCKED} & \text{TKT-9187 / Immutable Markdown Digest} \\
\text{Ontology } (\Omega) & \mathbf{LOCKED} & \text{6 Currencies, 7 Layers, 2 Native Applications} \\
\text{Belief Categories} & \mathbf{LOCKED} & \text{Fixed at } n=4 \text{ Core Factor Hypotheses} \\
\text{Measurement Equations} & \mathbf{LOCKED} & \Lambda = \text{diag}(\Lambda_B, \Lambda_A, \Lambda_C, I) \text{ Block-Diagonal Form} \\
\text{Evaluation Horizon} & \mathbf{LOCKED} & \text{Strictly 25 Trading Days } (N = 9,750 \text{ 1-min epochs}) \\
\text{Success Criteria} & \mathbf{LOCKED} & \beta_{AB}>0 \land \beta_{AC}>0 \land \beta_{CR}>0 \land \Delta\text{Sharpe}_{\text{Gov}} \ge 1.75\times \\
\text{Failure Criteria} & \mathbf{LOCKED} & S_t = 0 \lor \|\Delta\text{Error}_{1..5}\| > 5.0\% \lor \beta_{\text{Trans}} \le 0 \\
\text{Retirement Thresholds} & \mathbf{LOCKED} & \lambda_i = \frac{\ln 2}{t_{1/2,i}}, \text{ Half-Life Expiry Trigger at } B_i(t) < 0.20 \\
\text{Calibration Surfaces} & \mathbf{LOCKED} & 5 \text{ Multi-Tier Error Surfaces with Strict Corridors} \\
\hline
\end{array}$$

Once locked, **no modification to any of these components is technically or methodologically permitted during the observational period.**

---

### A.3 The Epistemic Invariant
The governing methodological rule of this research program is defined by the **Epistemic Invariant**:

$$\mathbf{\frac{d(\text{Definition of Failure})}{d(\text{Observed Failure})} \equiv 0}$$

The definition of failure must remain strictly invariant with respect to the empirical occurrence of failure.

If the system experiences an adverse outcome, the empirical observation must update internal belief confidence and state vectors rather than alter the criteria, thresholds, or metrics by which failure is defined. Modifying evaluation criteria in response to failure is classified as an epistemic violation that invalidates the trial.

---

### A.4 Separation of Jurisdictions
To eliminate conflicts of interest between model construction and empirical evaluation, the architecture enforces a strict tripartite separation of jurisdictions:

$$\begin{array}{llll}
\hline
\textbf{Jurisdiction} & \textbf{Role} & \textbf{Authority} & \textbf{Operational Status} \\
\hline
\textbf{Jurisdiction I} & \text{Design Authority} & \text{Formulates hypotheses, ontology, and rules} & \mathbf{EXPIRED} \text{ at observation start} \\
\textbf{Jurisdiction II} & \text{Measurement Authority} & \text{Records observations and applies rules} & \mathbf{ACTIVE} \text{ (Purely non-discretionary)} \\
\textbf{Jurisdiction III} & \text{Outcome Authority} & \text{The physical market / Reality} & \mathbf{DECISIVE} \text{ (Sole authority on truth)} \\
\hline
\end{array}$$

**Constitutional Constraint:** Jurisdiction I is formally barred from modifying rules, weights, or thresholds during active observation. Jurisdiction II possess zero discretionary override capability. Jurisdiction III holds the sole commit access to the empirical verdict.

---

### A.5 Observation Registry
All observations are ingested in real time and committed to an append-only, content-addressed telemetry ledger. The observational ledger records:
1. **Physical Timestamp:** Microsecond-precision epoch timestamp $t$.
2. **Latent State Estimates:** State vector $\mathbf{x}_t = [B_t^T, A_t^T, C_t^T, R_t^T]^T$ produced by the Kalman filter.
3. **Empirical Indicators:** Measurement vector $y_t = [y_t^{B^T}, y_t^{A^T}, y_t^{C^T}, y_t^{R^T}]^T$ ingested directly from broker DOM and on-chain RPC nodes.
4. **Calibration Surface Evaluations:** Multi-tier error metrics ($\Delta P_{\text{error}}$, $\Delta\text{GovError}$, $\Delta\text{CFError}$).
5. **Belief Retirement Events:** Timestamped lifecycle transitions, half-life expirations, and parameter pruning logs.
6. **Master Survival State:** Continuous Boolean evaluation of $S_t = V_U \land V_T \land V_A \land V_H$.

Retroactive editing or re-indexing of the observational ledger is cryptographically prohibited by SHA-256 block-hash linking.

---

### A.6 Pre-Specified Falsification Conditions
The core hypothesis shall be considered definitively falsified if any of the following four conditions occur during the 25-day observational horizon:

#### Condition 1: Transmission Cascade Failure
The transmission cascade fails to achieve directional statistical significance at the $p < 0.01$ level across the full sample:
$$\beta_{AB} \le 0 \quad \lor \quad \beta_{AC} \le 0 \quad \lor \quad \beta_{CR} \le 0$$
*Implication:* Collective belief does not govern attention, attention does not govern capital deployment, or capital deployment fails to move returns.

#### Condition 2: Calibration Surface Divergence
Any of the primary calibration error surfaces exceed preregistered stability corridors:
- $\text{Perception Error } (\Delta P_{\text{error}}) > 5.0\%$ for $> 3$ consecutive trading windows.
- $\text{Judgment Error } (\Delta\text{GovError}) > 5.0\%$ for $> 3$ consecutive trading windows.
- $\text{Self-Awareness Counterfactual Error } (\Delta\text{CFError}) > 10.0\%$ for $> 3$ consecutive trading windows.
*Implication:* The internal cognitive state of the agent diverges unacceptably from physical execution reality.

#### Condition 3: Master Survival Function Collapse
The master survival function evaluates to zero at any point during active trading:
$$S_t = V_U \land V_T \land V_A \land V_H = 0$$
triggered by the assertion of any of the four sovereign vetoes (Utility, Truth, Adoption, Authority).

#### Condition 4: Governance Alpha Underperformance
The belief-governed capital allocation model fails to demonstrate positive, statistically significant governance alpha over the preregistered baseline factor models:
$$\Delta\text{Sharpe}_{\text{Gov}} < 1.75\times \quad \lor \quad \beta_{\text{Gov}} \le 0 \quad (p \ge 0.01)$$
*Implication:* Belief lifecycle management imposes computational and latency friction without generating commensurate risk-adjusted returns.

---

### A.7 Interpretation Hierarchy
Following the conclusion of the 25-day observational horizon, the empirical results shall be interpreted strictly according to the following preregistered decision matrix:

$$\begin{array}{lp{5.5cm}p{5.5cm}}
\hline
\textbf{Empirical Outcome} & \textbf{Preregistered Interpretation} & \textbf{Epistemic Consequence} \\
\hline
\text{All falsifications avoided; } \mathcal{H}_A \text{ supported} & \text{Evidence is strongly consistent with belief-governed capital allocation.} & \text{Validation of attention-mediated market dynamics; reject capital-first orthodoxy.} \\
\text{Condition 1 triggered (transmission failure)} & \text{Capital allocation is independent of upstream belief and attention.} & \text{Traditional capital-first and efficient market models are supported.} \\
\text{Condition 2 triggered (calibration divergence)} & \text{Model lacks perceptual or evaluative accuracy.} & \text{Measurement framework rejected; latent belief representation is flawed.} \\
\text{Condition 3 triggered (survival collapse)} & \text{Governance architecture is dynamically unstable.} & \text{Operational failure; veto bounds prove unsustainable under market stress.} \\
\text{Condition 4 triggered (no governance alpha)} & \text{Belief governance imposes frictional cost without economic benefit.} & \text{Hypothesis rejected; belief retirement provides no statistical edge.} \\
\hline
\end{array}$$

**Zero Reinterpretation Rule:** No alternative hypotheses, post-hoc explanations, or secondary rationalizations shall be introduced after observation concludes. The outcome falls strictly into one of the designated cells.

---

### A.8 Scientific Position
The authors explicitly acknowledge and declare that:
1. **The core hypothesis may be false.** Financial markets may operate entirely as capital-first, price-equilibrated systems wherein beliefs are non-causal epiphenomena.
2. **The measurement instruments may be noisy.** Latent belief indicators derived from order-flow imbalances and narrative volume may fail to capture true institutional intentionality.
3. **The observation horizon may be insufficient.** While 25 trading sessions ($9,750$ minutes) provide sufficient statistical power for microstructure transmission, certain macro belief lifecycles operate over multi-year horizons.
4. **The market may behave in ways that invalidate the model's core assumptions.** Nonlinear regime shifts, regulatory interventions, or physical infrastructure failures may decouple attention from capital.

These possibilities are considered normal, healthy features of empirical science. The purpose of this architecture is not to confirm a preferred philosophy, but to subject it to the exact conditions under which it could fail.

---

### A.9 Final Declaration
The authors formally declare under institutional oath:
1. The experiment was designed and published prior to the collection of the evaluation sample.
2. The ontology and mathematical parameters were frozen prior to observation.
3. The evaluation rules and falsifiers were locked prior to observation.
4. No post-hoc adjustments to success or failure criteria will be made.

The architecture is now active, passive, and subject to the unyielding judgment of physical reality.

## Appendix B. Reproducibility and Data Availability

### B.1 Telemetry Ledger Replication
All raw high-frequency telemetry, Kalman state trajectories, and inspection event logs are committed continuously to the Valkey SSOT at `apex1.predator.run:6379` under the root key:

```
Researchers may independently query this append-only stream via standard Redis/Valkey CLI or API connections to audit state transitions against published timestamps.
### B.2 Open Source Verification Suites
All state-space estimation routines, causal proof-chain validators, and test harnesses are open source and verifiable within the repository:
